There are small differences, but it's more obvious in real life.

1. Spray a heat protectant and working spray into your hair.
I use Redken Headplay 12 and Paul Mithcell Seal and Shine.

2. Turn on your curling iron and brush out any knots in your hair.

3. Take random pieces of hair and wrap them around your curler, curl up to a few inches away from your hair line, hold for a few seconds and release. Curl in different direction (i.e. yurning the curler towards you and away from you)

If you want messy curls, leave the hair on the curler for longer.

If you have a side fringe, curl the end of it.

4. Once you have curled some random pieces on top, turn your head to the side and pick random pieces from the bottom and curl them half way up. If you have layers, then curl the bottom hair up to wear the layer start.

5. Fix up any too bouncy curls.

6. Spray some hair spray on the curls and a lighter hair spray on the waves.

Well! There you go, I hope anyone who's actually reading this enjoyed it!
