There's a cat in my garden so I fed it tuna

Sounds like the opening line of a storybook, right? Nope, there's a cat in my herb garden and it scared the bajeesus out of me.

There I was, weeding my garden, growing increasingly frustrated that the taps around my garden don't work and therefore I can't water my plants. When suddenly I hear a growling sound as I reach over the other pots to pull some weeds from around my chives plant. I pause like, "what the truck was that?", realise that something is growling at me from the bushes and jump back, my hand at my throat. Not even kidding, I had a flash of that scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban where there's a wolf thing growling at Harry from the bushes as he waits for the Knight Bus.

Anyway, it turns out it was cat. A very angry cat from having me disturb its hiding place. Well it shouldn't have been hiding in my garden, now should it?

So I brought it some tuna hoping to make a new animal friend, but that just seemed to make it angrier.

August Lust Have It! box

I was so stoked when I received this, I've been looking forward to it all month. I was a little disappointed that it didn't come in a little makeup bag like it did for the past two months. It came in a white box with a black ribbon tied around it, looked nice, but I couldn't use it for anything.

tanGo Tanning Glove
I don't really know what I'm going to do with this since I don't self tan...I can't think of any other uses. Objectively, it seems nice. It's one of those microfiber towels (not a glove), small, soft.

Tigi Rockaholic Rock Out Shine Blaster
I was so excited to try this! I am a huge fan of Tigi products, I love the packaging and concepts behind the products.

Rock Out feels silicon-y and smooth when smoothed through the hands and applies to the hair without leaving a residue or weighing it down. It softened the hair and left it with a nice shine. I think this would be really good for after using heat styling products, especially after straightening.

Appelles Body Booster Skin Lotion, Body Bar Vegetable Soap, Skin Detox Shower Gel - all in the Wild Berry scent
Over all, these products smell amazing. Really delicious. My first thought when smelling them was apple and raspberry. It's a really sweet fruity scent and I love it.

I haven't tried the shower gel yet, so if I think it's any good I'll review it later.

Appelles Body Bar Vegetable Soap
My favourite of the three, I use this as hand soap by my bathroom sink and every time I wash my hands I end up smelling them for ages afterwards. So delicious.
It's a lovely red colour, lathers into a milky foam and the scent stays on your hands for quite a while. I wash my hands a lot because I'm a bit weird, so my hands smell like it all day.

Appelles Body Booster Skin Lotion
I was well excited for this also, has the same scent as the soap and moisturises quite well. It's an oil based lotion, so it packs a good moisturising punch and it isn't tested on animals, so that's a plus. It comes in quite a small bottle (I believe the one I got was full size), so I'm not sure you would get many uses out of it or how cost effective it is. Probably wouldn't buy it again because of this, but I love the scent, so I'll definitely buy the soap.

ModelCo Eyeliner in Black
Not a very creamy eyeliner, it's quite...thick? If you can describe a pencil that way. Like it doesn't go on very smoothly and is kinda dry, so the colour isn't very black and it would be hard to make precise lines.

However, the dryness of it makes it surprisingly waterproof. I took this photo yesterday and still have a bit of the eyeliner on my hand. And I tested it on my hand before I tried the Appelles soap, so even with soap and water it didn't come off. It's possibly too waterproof, I don't know how you'd get it off at the end of the day.

Marc Jacobs DOT
I'm not a huge fan of this perfume, probably won't purchase the full size, but I think I'll use the tester atomiser.
It's a bit too chemically for me, I'm a big fan of natural scents, mostly florals. This smells kinda like passionfruit and pineapple and chemicals at first spray. As it dries it's a lot softer, and goes kind of sweet and musky. I want to describe it as vintage or heirloom, but I don't think perfumes are generally described that way.

What am I supposed to do with this?!

Goddamn! I haven't been this mad at a bookstore in a long time.

What even is this?

I hate you so much, Bookworld.

Photobucket

And they have Fifty Shades of Grey in their "Featured" section!

What kind of a bookstore does that?!

Photobucket

How dare you, Bookworld?

How dare you? Finagling me out of a book? That's low. I just wanted to purchase a pdf of The Golden Lily. Now I have to download your crappy app, which doesn't seem to exist in the Australian App Store, just to read my book.

And! I can't even read it offline, I have to do a bunch of stupid stuff to get it offline and I don't know how to do that, so I won't, so I have to read it online, like a chump.

I guess that's what I get for not downloading something illegally.

Freakin' out. Oh my God.

I'm freaking out today. I have to go and meet with my Business teacher to talk about my assignment because I've been missing lots of school due to anxiety. I haven't been to school all week and the last time I went I kind of panicked and started crying and hyperventilating everywhere. That was lame.

So I'm going today and I'm all dressed in my uniform and everything, but I'm still freaking out a fair amount, so I decided to distract myself.

Here are the ways in which I have distracted myself this morning:
- Making faces at myself in the mirror
- Cleaning my makeup brushes
- Doing my makeup
- Making raisin toast
- Cleaning up all the trash on my bed
- Watching True Blood S05E11 (Holy shit, how good was this weeks episode?!)
- Tumbling
- Blogging (Current)
- Winking a lot because there is something in my eye (Current)

In 16 minutes I will be going to school and everything's going to get really fast and panicky and I'm going to have to go into school and try not to freak out. Wish me luck.

What did I just do?

Oh my God, guys, I just told Ekka lady friend that I'm interested in her romantically and she said she hadn't thought about girls that way and now she's going to think about it and oh my God, what have I done?

This is intense, I've never done this before. I've asked guys out, that's pretty straight forward, you ask them to do anything with you alone and it's a date, done; but with girls, you have to be direct, tell them how you feel, expose yourself and risk losing a friendship. It's scary as anything!

So for the next few days/weeks/months/however long it takes her to decide I'm going to be in quite the inner turmoil, freaking out even more than I already have been. Good Lord, why have I done this to myself?

I guess it's a weight off my shoulders, but not knowing was kind of nice, didn't have to bare myself, show my true feelings or anything of that nature, I could just be a bit flirty with this girl, but now it's all changed! For the better, but incase you didn't notice, I don't like change, so this is difficult for me.

Also, at the Ekka I heard a teenage girl say, "I don't like it here. I hate people. Mum, take me back to the shire!"

Photobucket

Ekka!

I went to the Ekka yesterday with possible ladyfriend and it was awesome!

For those of you that don't live in and around Brisbane, the Ekka is a...farm, rides, festival, carnival thing that happens every year in August for a week or something. It's really fun and we all get a Wednesday off to go.

The Ekka is a very interesting event for Brisbanites (Brisbanians?), or at least I think so. It really shows the joint patriotism that we Australians feel for our country. And I think it brings us back to the outback for us city folk. Here you can see a stadium of people standing to sing the national anthem.

There are many events at the Ekka, some are more traditional,
Wood cutting

Horse jumping

Dog shows

Biggest chicken competition (or so I assume)
My winner

And some are a little bit strange,

Horse and rider covered in glow sticks, or as I like to call it, "Tron horse"

The Toyota Hilux Heroes

Horses pretending to be motorbikes
It's hard to see, but they have handle bars instead of reins

There's a petting zoo (my favourite event and llamas!
Oh my God, baby chickens!

There's also this death trap, commonly refered to as the "Dodgems", which, even after telling my friend that I should not be given the wheel under any circumstances, I drove nearly the whole time. I also screamed for my life.

And dinosaur chicken!

What the hell, Batman? (Spoilers)

There's gonna be a hell of a lot of spoilers in this post because I just saw The Dark Knight Rises and holy shit, it blew my mind. So from this point on there will be major spoilers.

What the hell was that? How dare you, Christopher Nolan? What gives you the right to make me feel such an array of emotions in half an hour? And I say half an hour because in the first two hours nothing particularly emotional happened, but once there were only thirty minutes left, BAM! Smacks you in the face with feels.

Like what the actual truck was that with letting Batman kiss Cat Woman and then letting him die? I was so overjoyed that my OTP had come together and then it was over.

And then everything with Alfred, what was that?! I was literally sobbing in the movie theatre, mascara running down my face, because someone didn't tell me this movie would crush your heart. Then we find out that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Robin! How dare you!

When Batman died I felt an array of emotions: denial, followed by anger, followed by sadness, followed by acceptance. Then I was swept by a whole new set of these feelings: scepticism at the movie ending with Batman's death, denial that Batman can actually die and finally anger at being swindled into thinking he was dead, only to find that he is in-fact alive. That is not okay, Christopher Nolan. I am mad that you played with my emotions like that, I was not expecting nor prepared for those kinds of feels, as can you can plainly see from my non-waterproof mascara. I was expecting an action movie that didn’t really make me feel anything, or at the least a $17 nap.

The movie was absolutely amazing, but I will now always wear waterproof mascara when seeing a Christopher Nolan film, I have been thoroughly warned.

July 2012 favourites

Guess what, it is officially my birth month! Pretty stoked for it. This should also indicate to you that it is a new month, so I'm doing my favourite makeup products of last month. Be excited.

My first favourite is Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation in Opal 15 and Nude 25
Please click here for the full review

In short, it covers really well, doesn't irritate my skin, blends easily, doesn't feel heavy on the face and is reasonably priced.

Lush Eyes Right mascara
This mascara came out with Lush's recent Emotional Brilliance makeup line, all of which are close to completely natural and handmade.

I'm very pleased with this mascara, it's very surprisingly waterproof and smudge-proof, I think because it's mostly natural I assumed it would have no staying power and would slide right off, but it stays put really well.
It's very natural looking and easy to remove.

Lush Fantasy liquid eyeliner
Same for this stuff, surprising with it's staying power. Very pigmented, metallic and glittery. This was a little harder to get off because of the glitter, but not even close to something like Mac Fludilines.

Real Techniques Contour and Buffing brushes from the Core Collection
I wasn't a fan of the other two brushes that come in this kit, the detailer and pointed foundation brushes, I didn't really have any use for them, but I really love these two. I wish I could buy them on their own, but they only come in the kit for some reason.

I use the contour brush for blush because I'm not a big contouring person, but this brush works really well for blush. Since it's quite dense it picks up product better than my Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour brush.

I use the buffing brush with foundation and under eye concealer to blend and smooth. It creates a really even coverage and makes the makeup blend into the skin really nicely.
