Baked goods make things less awkward

I love baking with a fiery passion and I love giving people my baked goods and seeing them enjoy them, but I have now just realised that baked goods also make social events less awkward.

I'm meeting my Dad's girlfriend's kids in 18 minutes and I'm a bit nervous. However! I just realised that I have baked goods to give them and thus the standing in the doorway awkwardness will be averted! Now I will need to set down my cookies, offer people cookies, people will eat my cookies and we will converse about baking, etc. etc. It will all just be generally less uncomfortable.

I tried to make star cookies, but they don't really look super star shaped...oh well! I decorated them with Christmas themed items to be more jolly.

In other news, I'm bird sitting for my lovely friend, Meg.

More baking!

I baked pink cupcakes for a movie night I'm going to tomorrow, they were originally going to be rainbow, but then I couldn't be bothered separating the batter and pink is so pretty!

I'm not sure if they're pink enough for people to actually realise that these cupcakes are pink, but it doesn't really matter, I'm more interested in people thinking that they're strawberry flavoured when they're actually vanilla.

I used this recipe from Exclusively Food for the actual cupcakey part of it, I doubled the recipe so that there would be heaps (I really like these as just vanilla cupcakes or add cocoa for chocolate cupcakes) and got inspiration from these two bakers: Call Me Cupcake and Family Kitchen

Also, whilst at IGA looking for ingredients and such, I saw this:

What is that?! Gubble Bum?! WHAT? I read it as Bubble gum and got excited, until my brother pointed out that it is not the Bubble gum I was expecting. What is this?!

I bake when I'm angry

Do you guys have things that you do when you're in certain moods? Bored, sad, happy, tired, anxious?

I bake when I'm angry, but also when I'm happy, I bake all the time, so it's hard to tell, but I find repetitive tasks help when I'm in bad moods. Some others I like are sewing, hand sewing in particular, art stuff, mostly paint when I'm mad, it sort of flows better and I can express myself more easily with the paint, listening to music really loudly and dancing like an idiot whilst screeching the words...that's completely normal...anywho, cleaning is a common one, but, a bit strangely, I only like to clean the kitchen, usually after baking or cooking something elaborate to calm myself down haha.

I baked pan cookies from this recipe, except I used nutella instead of chocolate chips, I can't wait to see how they turn out. I also used self raising flour, took out the baking soda, added a quarter cup less oats, used a bit more cinnamon than stated (half a tablespoon there abouts) and added a splash of milk, if you want to get technical, though you probably didn't.

Cupcakes!

I made two-dozen cupcakes last night.

It was glorious.

I took them to my horse riding group and people seemed to like them! Yay.

I love baking, I love it so much. I spend hours trolling the internet for new recipes or variations. I love baking for people and I absolutely adore Nigella Lawson, she is my Goddess.

The joys of cupcakes

I'm thinking I want to make something a bit different next time, I love baking cupcakes or cakes the most, they're so cute and pretty and delicious even if I screw it up a bit. I'm thinking ginger cupcakes with ginger snap cookies crumbled on the icing, maybe with apple or something...I will undoubtably post photos/drawings of whatever I decide to bake, so I'll keep you updated.
